2020 Holyoke Credit Union Scholarship Recipients

Holyoke Credit Union (HCU) Board of Directors would like to announce the winners of the 2020 Holyoke Credit Union Scholarship.

Dennis Moran, Thomas Paquin and Michael Ghazil, members of the HCU Board of Directors, and members of the Scholarship Committee, have been given the task of choosing the recipients of the scholarships. This year, from a field of 33 applicants, Michael Lukasiewicz, Emma Gale and Kaleb Hogan were chosen.

Each recipient received $500 to put toward his/her college expenses.


Michael Lukasiewicz, son of Kevin and Michelle Lukasiewicz of Holyoke, is a recent graduate of Holyoke High School North Campus. He is planning to attend Springfield College in the fall, where he plans to major in Elementary Education, with a concentration in Special Education. Michael is a member of the National Honor Society and the National Society of High School Students. He was the captain of the Ski Team and a member of the Business Club. His extracurricular activities include the Football Mentoring Program, working as the Assistant Manager of Margaret’s Pantry and the Adaptive PE Skating Program. While still in high school, Michael also has been an intern at the Stefancik Elementary School in Chicopee where he helped tutor students with special needs.


Emma Gale, daughter of Mireille and Donald Gale of Feeding Hills, is a recent graduate of Agawam High School. Emma is planning to attend Bentley University in the fall, majoring in Business. She is a member of the French National Honor Society and the Social Studies National Honor Society. While in school Emma was a member of the Science Club and the Students against Violating the Environment (SAVE) Club. Some of her extracurricular activities also include refereeing for youth and high school field hockey, volunteering for the Agawam Field Hockey Mites as well as taking pictures of the field hockey and lacrosse teams for Agawam and Holyoke. She also works part-time for a local restaurant and enjoys horseback riding in her spare time.


Kaleb Hogan, son of Tracy Demaio and Jake Hogan of West Springfield, is a recent graduate of West Springfield High School. Kaleb is planning to attend Norwich University, Corps of Cadets Program, majoring in Criminal Justice and/or Political Science. During school he was a member of the varsity wrestling team, acting as captain for the last 2 years. Kaleb’s extracurricular activities include several volunteer positions including acting as an Ambassador for Project 351, collecting used clothing for Cradles to Crayons as well as organizing a fundraiser to raise money for an injured classmate.
